Seeking Forgiveness and Repentance

No one would have ever known that the Firawn actually submitted to the will of Allah swt at the last moment, when he was drowning. He dwelled in tyranny and in sins till he was drowned. The Al Quran revealed beautifully that he finally accepted Allah swt as his Lord.

Allah swt is Ar Rahim, the most compassionate, but why didn’t he forgive the Firawn. There is a beautiful explanation for this too. Allah swt can forgive sins, no matter how big, even when it is stacked up from earth to the sky forgiveness. The repentance accepted by Allah is only for those who do wrong in ignorance [or carelessness] and then repent soon after. It is those to whom Allah will turn in forgiveness, and Allah is ever Knowing and Wise. No effect is the repentance of those who continue to do evil deeds until death faces one of them.

The actual recovery of the Firawn’s body was found in the 1880s and it was clearly a sign for those who are heedless. Today, Firawn’s mummified body can be found in the Egyptian museum.

These facts can be shared with children to discuss about the Firawn’s existence and his bad character, and how Merciful Allah swt is in forgiving. We too have to seek forgiveness. This is a good way to start the story of Musa (Moses) a.s. his birth

It is a good reminder that seeking forgiveness and repentance is important and that Allah swt is ever Merciful, we should not persist in sins as once forgiveness is closed, repentance will not be accepted.

May Allah swt keep us among those whom He loves and guides.
